What is Baldrige-Based Training?

The Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Criteria for Performance Excellence will give your organization the edge you need to compete in your markets and be effective as a educational entity. The Criteria is designed to ask around 200 world-class questions to improve your organizational performance excellence. Dr. McGuire has written a book entitled, “The Executive Guide to Understanding and Implementing the Baldrige Criteria: Improve Revenue and Create Organizational Excellence” with co-author Denis Leonard.

Why use McGuire and Associates?

Dr. McGuire has led numerous organizations through Baldrige-based programs at the local, state and national levels with great success. Two clients have won the National Malcolm Baldrige Quality Award. ninety-five organizations have won local and state awards. Dr. McGuire is more responsive than most other consultants and he takes a personal interest in organizational achievements.

  1. Initial Assessment Meeting – This meeting normally takes two hours to assess if the organization is ready to begin the Baldrige journey.
  2. Senior Leader/Manager Seminar – This seminar is conducted in two to five day increments which will enable all leaders and managers the ability to understand their role in implementing the Baldrige Criteria.
  3. Key Employees and First Level Supervisor Seminar – This highly interactive seminar is designed to bring the Baldrige Criteria to the front line employees. It is normally conducted in two days but can be adapted to accelerate the process.
  4. Writing/Editing – Our team of professionals can provide with you with deep edits designed to maximize your efforts and telling your story effectively.

Baldrige Executive Training

The Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Executive Session – This seminar has been developed for executives only who have the courage to formulate business planning based upon the Baldrige blueprint. Statewide, the Quality Texas Foundation issue awards for those who excel with the criteria. Some other states have adapted the Criteria and this can be used to achieve the statewide awards in those states. Dr. McGuire has worked with a number of state programs as a Baldrige coach.

This seminar is a quick, down and dirty approach and can be used to evaluate whether you organization is prepared or qualified to compete for the award.

The Seven Categories will be covered and the participants can use a plan to evaluate their own organization.

Categories covered and questions asked:

  • Leadership – What is the leadership philosophy of the organization? How involved is leadership in the overall day-to-day operations?
  • Strategic Planning – How has the organization planned for the future? What type of strategic plan is used? Does it consider human resources and their required skill sets?
  • Customer Market and Focus – How does the organization work to segment the customers? How are markets and focus determined? What data is available to validate the relationship with the customers?
  • Measurement, Analysis, and Knowledge Management – How does the organization select the date to be evaluated? How are decisions made based upon the data? How frequent is the data collected and disseminated? Who gets the data?
  • Workforce Focus – What is the organization doing to improve the human resource capital? How is training used to improve skill sets of the employees? What type of recognition and rewards are being used?
  • Operations Focus – How does the organization manage the key processes? Key support processes? How is process innovation directed?
  • Results – This category is the measurement for the remainder of the categories? How does the organization track their success? What are the key performance measures?

The outcome for this training is to give the executive a reader’s digest version of the criteria and assist with the decision to adopt and implement. A week long in depth analysis is planned for those personnel involved with the writing of the award.

The Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award (Internal) Examiner Certification Course – This seminar has been developed for individuals and leaders in organizations who have the courage to formulate business planning based upon the Baldrige blueprint. Statewide, the Quality Texas Foundation issues awards for those who excel with the criteria.
